We decided to cancel our excursion to Luxor / Karnak for several reasons. Our Canadian government had posted a warning not to travel in the area on May 1st., and guess what, there was an attack on a tourist bus about May 19. The temperature was oppressively hot (120 F) and we have spent 18 days in Egypt in 2010, so would have been a nice revisit only. An abundant sense of "na, lets not bother going ashore", found us cooling our heels on a vacated cruise ship.
Two day sail from Safaga with normal sea day activities plus an Arabian night party will put us at the entrance to the Suez Canal.
