Our cruise started uneventfully on Jan. 11 with a picturesque sale-away down the Hudson River, past the spectacular New York City skyline and iconic Lady in Green. (Statue of Liberty)
Oceania booked us a room in the Waldorf Hotel on 5th Avenue for pre-cruise stay. Cruise Connections hosted a nice dinner that same evening where we met the 15 couples from Western Canada on the world cruise.
It was a mixed blessing leaving NYC, as it is an interesting city for sure, but the temperature was 25 to 30 degrees, accompanied by a 30 mph wind howling between the towers. Our 7 suitcases have been unpacked and everything is in its home for the next 6 months. So far the food is living up to its billing.....excellent! Will have to watch out for expanding waist lines!
We have two sea days before the Miami arrival on Jan.14.
