February 24, 2019 Sea Day, 44/183
Had to adjust my thinking, as we lost 1 day in February, so the cruise is actually 182 days I guess? Go figure. If you count on the calendar, it is 183 days. Counting on the ship's log, it is 182.
Shall I report this a fake news, having called it 183? Just saying..... :)
Roger gave a great talk on the Battle of Gallipoli, on the Dardanelles, between the Western allies and the Ottoman Empire, where the Turks defeated the Allies. 58,000 troops were killed in this 10 month campaign, led by incompetent generals from Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Experience here did help the allies plan better for the D Day invasion.
WW 1 Casualties were unbelievable. Listed below are losses as a percentage of populations of combatant countries. Each statistic is expressed as a range, based on information from various sources.
